Position Overview

This position requires in-depth knowledge of Real-Time Power System Network Modeling and Advanced Applications and has thorough understanding of how the business uses the applications for the reliability monitoring, control and maintenance of the electric grid. The position is responsible for providing leadership on day-to-day operation for maintaining the availability and reliability of Real-Time Power System Network Modeling and Advanced Applications control systems in support of the SCEs Transmission and Distribution Operations, Engineering and other T&D businesses. The position will lead the operations team to performing analysis, and providing recommendations to address application issues as well as implementing tools and utilities to enhance and automate the monitoring of the applications. The position will lead the operations team and be responsible for incident triage and will perform escalation to the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) or working with Grid Security and Operation Center (GSOC) to coordinate incident that requires support from other Grid Services organizations. The position will be managing operations team to ensure that the Real-Time Power System Network Modeling and Advance Applications used by T&D groups are functional, accurate and following the standard as well as adhere to policies and in compliance with NERC and FERC.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • The position will make daily decisions affecting the operation and maintenance of the control system applications and platforms in order to obtain better reliability and availability.

  • Participating in tier 2 support which require critical decisions to quickly restore services and to conduct cause evaluation to prevent future outages.

  • The position will meet regularly with business clients at management levels to discuss status and performance of managed applications and platforms to ensure SLAs are met.

  • The position will also represent maintenance team to provide input to IT and SCE leadership team with consultation on future strategy of control system applications for the alignment and to meet the business vision and objectives.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or science/technology.

  • 5 years’ experience performing control system applications or platform work or related functions and providing recommendations.

Desired Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience supervising a project team or work group.

  • Master’s degree in engineering, science/technology, or MBA degree.

  • Frontline leadership training and Project Management Certification.

  • Excellent management mastery, including effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation.

  • Strong personal mastery, including ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.
