The SCADA/Controls Engineer will be supporting company Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems (SCADA) and Energy Management System (EMS) which are essential to the operation of the SCE Electric System. Responsible for implementation and modification of SCADA systems and supporting applications. Interfaces with operations and maintenance staff. Ensures process and system changes are reflected in all relevant documentation and processes.
In concert with changes to the SCE electric system, (i.e. new Substations and substation automation), identify and engineer required additions and changes to SCADA systems and data bases; and Support mission critical applications, including after-hours and tier-2 support.
Provides input on projects where SCADA and control system expertise is required.
Effectively integrating new systems, electrical automation devices, functionality, and processes into an operating control system environment.
Ensure process and technical compliance with NERC & WECC Reliability and Cyber Security Standards.
Provide operational support to SCE technicians and other field personnel for the resolution of real time, critical issues with potential to impair the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the SCE electric system.
Engineer and Project manage the implementation and modification of SCADA systems to support changes to the SCE electric system (this includes hardware engineering, providing input on related EMS data base and advanced application changes, interfacing with business clients such as T&D engineers, project managers, and field personnel).
Act as a key contributor in compliance activities such as NERC CIP cyber and physical security; and WECC reliability standards.
Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Bachelor Degree in a scientific/technical field.
5 years’ of experience in Engineering.
2 years’ of experience with EMS/SCADA/Process Control Systems.
Experience with control systems protocol: such as DNP 3.0, Modbus and Inter Control Center Protocol (TASE2/ICCP).
Experience working with automation devices/equipment.
Knowledge and extensive skills in Instrumentation and Control technologies.
Knowledge of the SCE Electric System, and the role that SCADA / Remote Telemetry plays in the operation SCE Transmission, Sub Transmission, and Distribution systems.
Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot complex problems related to real-time systems. This would include: understanding architecture for systems that have high availability and resiliency, knowledge of IT network communication protocols and equipment.
Good oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to clients’ business needs. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaborate with end-users, vendors, project teams, management and external working groups.
Ability to effectively analyze, prepare and present project information, and make sound decisions that have moderate to significant business impact.
Experiencing managing and coordinating projects, with the ability to manage high volumes of work and meet multiple critical milestones
Knowledge of RTU platforms including DAQ Callisto and ACS NTX, data concentrators and terminal servers.
Knowledge of Telecommunications Technologies such as transport (TDM & IP) and circuits from the Analog to high speed optical levels.
Knowledge of SCE’s T&D organization, operations, and work processes.
Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Position will require up to 25% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE.

This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
