The Aircraft Technician 5 is a lead position for the Aircraft Technician group, providing the maintenance staff with immediate oversight and guidance on the hangar floor. The Aircraft Technician 5 assists the Maintenance Manager in scheduling, prioritizing and coordinating aircraft inspections, maintenance and repairs. The Aircraft Technician 5 assists with oversight and compliance with required permits/licenses required for the operation of the base hangar facility. A lead technician also gives the Maintenance Manager more time for administrative duties.
Inspect, maintain and repair company aircraft on pre-flight, periodic and planned basis.
Purchases and receives inventory supplies from vendors.
Disassembles airframe, engine and other components on planned maintenance schedule or to determine cause of malfunction and overhaul/repair/replace parts as required to maintain aircraft in airworthy condition.
Installs special accessories and attachments for cargo handling, transportation of equipment and external loads.
Advising field crews on methods and procedures to follow when using aircraft for aerial work methods. Ensures aircraft and landing zone is in compliance with established Federal, State, local and manufacturer standards.
Provides information and recommendations related to safety and airworthiness of aircraft for flight.
Participate with the Maintenance Manager in scheduling, prioritizing and coordinating aircraft inspections, maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal aircraft availability.
In conjunction with Maintenance Manager, monitor aircraft parts inventory including ordering, warranty follow-up and FAA Compliance. Ensure compliance with permits and licenses required for operation of base hangar facility.
Oversee maintenance, inspection, repair and installation of aircraft test equipment, avionics and mission-specific equipment.
Provides functional guidance to a Maintenance staff of 8 employees, including Aircraft Technicians 1, 2, 3 and 4. Coordinate staffing for extended work coverage, weekend coverage and field work.
Assumes Maintenance Manager’s responsibilities during Maintenance Manager’s absence.
High school graduate
Valid Airframe and Powerplant Certification per CFR Title 14 Part 65
Valid Inspection Authorization Certification per CFR Title 14 Part 65
Valid California Class A Haz Mat Tanker Driver’s License
Knowledge of FAR 91.411 (Pitot Static testing) and FAR 91.413 (Transponder testing) Test procedures
Certified user of Aeroflex IFR 4000 Nav/Com Test Set
Certified user of Aeroflex IFR 6000 Ramp Test Set
Must be able to attain an FAA Repairman Certificate within 1 year
7 years’ experience in rotorcraft maintenance
5 years’ experience with Airbus AS350B3 helicopters
5 years’ experience with airbus Ec135P2+ helicopters
2 years’ experience with Bell 205/212/412 helicopters
2 years’ experience with Mx Manager software
Associate Degree in Aviation Maintenance
Valid Repairman Certification per CFR Title 14 Part 65
Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
The primary work location for this position is Chino, CA.
Position will require up to 30% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory as well as out of state.
Relocation does not apply to this position.
