Edison Carrier Solutions (ECS), an organization of Southern California Edison (SCE), is a competitive local exchange carrier focused on the wholesale carrier and large business market offering high capacity telecommunications transport, Internet and special access services. Our customers are regional, national and international telecommunication carriers, cable television and satellite providers, wireless companies, internet service providers, governments and large and medium size enterprises.
To meet the current needs of the ECS commercial business, a project manager role is needed to support the workload for project management of new fiber build projects which require extending the SCE fiber-optic network to provide services to external customers resulting in new revenue to SCE. This position will manage 50+ projects in progress and will be responsible for the project from the initial circuit order through final implementation.
Leads and directs cross-functional resources of design/planning, environmental, real properties, engineering, procurement, external contractors, SCE construction crews to meet project milestones, maintain project scope, schedule and within budget.
Identifies and manages resolution of all issues impacting the ability of ECS to deliver services to external customers on schedule.
Leads multiple project status meetings interfacing directly with external contractors performing engineering and construction work, and with external customers who we are providing communication services.
Provides updates, explains variances, and manages all customer expectations.
Responsible for providing internal stakeholders with all project reports in various formats as well as providing weekly project reports to external customers in the report format that they require from ECS.
Interfaces with project managers at external contractors and external telecommunication customers and large enterprise customers purchasing communication services from ECS.
Interfaces internally with managers, project managers, planners, engineers, analysts, construction supervisors in SCE, Transmission & Distribution (T&D), ECS.
Provides direction and makes decisions on issues impacting project scope, schedule and costs
Identifies, evaluates and raises issues to stakeholders and upper management on significant issues requiring higher level management discussion on contractual obligations and compliance issues related to projects.
Seven (7) or more years of experience working on distribution, transmission, or trans-telecom in planning and construction related fields.
Two (2) or more years of project management experience in a construction environment.
Two (2) or more years of experience following formal OSHA and Edison safety protocols, and safe work practices.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Construction, Engineering, or other discipline.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Five (5) or more years of experience managing multiple projects and adjusting to changing priorities.
Five (5) or more years of experience working in a fast pace environment and under strict time constraints.
Experience taking the initiative and utilize good judgment in anticipating and solving problems and providing solutions.
Experience working with external customers and responding to their business needs for service delivery and timelines (scoring).
Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
