About Transmission and Distribution

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Organizational Unit is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

Position overview

The position is part of Pole Program Management (PPM) within T&D that is responsible for pole scope processing, design remediation, and data reporting/tracking for any poles identified as deteriorated (Det) within SCE’s approximately 1.4 million pole portfolio. Our pole execution strategy takes into account annual pole targets, operation resources, budget commitments, and construction constraints.

The Pole Remediation Technical Specialist position is in the Design Remediation work group within PPM that examines raw data for the purpose of deteriorated pole scoping, project management and quality control for T&D pole replacements and/or remediation.

This position will dynamically facilitate the movement of pole scope from initiation to execution by actively managing SAP notifications, supporting the initial creation of deteriorated pole products in Design Manager, validating and reporting on Pole Tracker data, and researching/removing roadblocks (constraints) of Det Pole work orders. Job responsibilities include sorting through huge data sets to identify relationships between various data elements such as asset, geospatial, and operational data.

As a subject matter expert (SME) on SCE data sources, extraction methods and data interpretation, the TSP3 will lead and/or participate on multiple critical initiatives.

Responsibilities may include

  • Responsible for T&D's analytics, data interpretation, data extraction and modeling.

  • Develops, and assists or makes presentation to senior management, department and division management on initiatives supporting T&D strategies and goals.

  • Makes strategic recommendations on data collection, extraction, preparation, and integration all while maintaining data integrity.

  • Ensures optimal resource allocation and completion of work.

  • Performs analysis, testing, and/or measurement in specialized area of expertise.

  • Responsible for providing, analyzing and interpreting data in support of GRC testimony.

  • Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) to analysts about data sources, extraction methods and data interpretation.

  • Provides analysis for AOR in support of on-going company operations or in response to changing business strategies.

  • Responsible for development, improvement and execution of processes that support T&D in the execution of performance and metrics.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum qualifications

  • Four or more years of experience in, or related to the field of analytics.

  • Four or more years of experiencewith data preparation, data extraction using large structured and unstructured datasetsand tools

  • Four or more years’ experience working with ERP (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft), or analytical tools such as SAS or Visual Analytics (VA).

Desired qualification

  • Associates degree or higher in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or Business major

  • Three or more years of experience using Excel functions such as V-lookups, Pivot Tables, and creating charts and graphs

  • Three or more years’ experience in related technical field performing pole load calculations, consulting, and providing recommendations.
