About Transmission and Distribution
Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.
The Material Coordinator will be part of Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Transmission & Distribution Organization Unit. The successful candidate will provide material management support to all projects in Transmission Project Delivery – Construction Management.
Performs activities related to material handling: identification of material using SAP codes and descriptions, surplus returns, put away of material, and storeroom organization.
Process Material Requests through SAP
Receive Material Deliveries from vendors at various locations and verify material is correct for invoices to be processed.
Work is performed in the office and in the field (approximately 60% in office work & 40% field work.)
Creates Service Request for all of Transmission through SAP, Supplier Portal, and Ariba.
Performs activities related to the return of surplus materials to Edison's Corporate Warehouse: identification of material using SAP codes and descriptions, proper marking, packaging, palletizing, and shipping methods.
Checks material for accuracy using Bills of Material. Pick, pack, and stage material for delivery to Substation’s and remote material yards.
Performs routine activities, such as filing and organizing documentation related to transmission construction.
Working as a team member to coordinate multiple projects.
Providing support to Management, Project Managers, and Senior Material Coordinators to evaluate project status and applicable construction methods and safe work practices; finalizing job site readiness.
Assisting with customers and construction field forces in coordinating material and equipment staging and/or delivery to meet project start work dates.
Reviewing material shipping and receiving dates; tracking and ensuring received materials meet project goals.
Traveling throughout the SCE territory including locations outside of service territory.
Maintaining a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Five or more years of experience with ordering, tracking and receipting of materials.
Experience with contracts and purchase orders for materials and services in SAP.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
Willing and able to travel up to 50% or more within the SCE Territory.
Experience supporting material management.
Experience in material acquisition, service acquisition, setting up purchase orders, and/or expediting material/ material deliveries.
Experience with managing multiple project activities, including planning and coordinating assignments, creating and editing reports, and providing updates.
Experience gathering and analyzing data and/or information, and making recommendations.
Experience interfacing with clients, peers, service providers, and manufacturers.
Knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping systems.
Ability to determine confidentiality and classify documents as confidential, public, or internal/external documents.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and Outlook (or an equivalent application).
Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Position will require up to 50% or more of travel and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
Relocation does not apply to this position.
