About Business Resiliency:

The Business Resiliency Department brings together stakeholders from across the company to help identify vulnerabilities and implement strategies to ensure the company and its employees are well prepared to prevent, protect, mitigate, respond to, and recover from disruptive events - natural or manmade

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will work with a team of Planners within the Business Resiliency organization as well as with experts across the company to develop and implement emergency response, continuity of operations and hazard mitigation plans. The successful candidate will lead cross functional teams through the planning process and will be responsible for writing and implementing specific plans. The successful candidate will also support company emergency response operations by deploying to our Emergency Operations Center or other locations as necessary.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Implement a planning doctrine at SCE so that SCE’s internal plans integrate where appropriate and that SCE’s plans integrate where appropriate with public sector planning efforts.

  • Identifies and escalates resolution of major or complex issues, often of a political or controversial nature. Issues may have no established precedence for resolution. Such as but not limited to process changes that may impact regulatory compliance, impacts regarding restoration strategy and organization

  • Manages and facilitates cross functional teams of SCE employees and public sector officials to address issues and solve problems such as but not limited to; developing solutions for internal response operations, and establishing planning and communications protocols between SCE and Public sector Emergency Operations Centers at the City, County, and State level

  • Works with other Managers across SCE and within Business Resiliency to streamline and automate the planning process with the goal of minimizing impacts across the company

  • May be called upon to support company operations during emergencies which may require shift work in SCE’s Emergency Operations Center or other location as necessary

  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Seven years developing, implementing, and managing diverse planning efforts such as those at the State, Federal or City/County level or equivalent experience in a business environment.

  • Five years of experience interacting with senior and executive level managers

  • Five years of experience in analyzing complex combinations of hazards and developing executable plans to mitigate them

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Planning or similar discipline such as business

  • Certified Business Continuity Planner

  • Certified Emergency Manager

  • Ten or more years developing, implementing, and managing diverse planning efforts at the State, Federal or City/County level

  • Ten or more years of experience in analyzing complex combinations of hazards and developing executable plans to mitigate them

  • Experience leading cross functional teams in building consensus

  • Experience in project management of large cross function projects under tight deadlines

  • Experience in leading initiatives that introduce cross organizational change


  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA however, the successful candidate may also be asked to travel to local SCE offices on occasion.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties
