The Network Engineer/Specialist provides operational analysis and support for SCE’s network data infrastructure. Mid to high level hands on networking knowledge with ability to understand network topologies, system configurations, and operational processes with regard to incident recovery; documentation management and overall network management. Provides recommendations to senior staff on process improvements with regard to network monitoring and network reliability; conducts code evaluations including testing and documenting strategy for production implementation. Coordinates with stakeholders to determine best change work windows for code implementations. Works under minimal direction and independently determines and develops approach to solutions that typically have a "moderate impact" at the organizational level.
Contributes input on design, installation and operation of LAN, and backbone network infrastructure.
Configures services on all CISCO LAN/Backbone hardware including: Routers/Switches and other network appliances or monitoring tools.
Assists with network performance tuning and administration.
As required provision and deploy new CISCO routers, switches in the Network.
Documents operational processes and procedures.
Resolve operational issues involving all components of CISCO based network infrastructure.
Hands on knowledge of networking protocols such as BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.
Prepare and maintains up to date documentation for configuration of deployed solutions.
Troubleshoot and identify root causes of network incidents.
Adheres to all aspects of compliance requirements for networking devices.
Participate in production support and in on-call duties.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other related discipline.
Six (6)ormoreyears of experience in Network Services performing Operational activities; incident recovery and analysis; project support and providing Operational recommendations.
Hands one use of Networking Monitoring tools such as NetScout, NetMri, CA suite (Spectrum, Performance Center), Splunk, and network security tools
CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
