Position Overview:

Edison is seeking an energetic Principal Manager to lead our Major Projects and Engineering (MP&E) team in the Generation organization. MP&E is responsible for the planning and execution of large and complex Generation projects. This Principal Manager is responsible for managing a team of project managers, project control specialists and engineers to successfully execute Generation’s major construction projects. The right person for this role has the ability to provide the team with clear direction, enforce the use of project management best practices, establish parameters for portfolio performance and collaborate closely with other division managers to deliver high quality results. Responsibilities:

Management responsibilities includes:

  • Allocating of financial and employee resources to projects to insure the successful, safe and timely execution of projects.

  • Leading the team to develop a project management system (documentation and approval process) that provides oversight to the portfolio’sperformance and insures success project execution.

  • Managing employee performance for both direct and/or matrixed reports by establishing performance expectations and goals that alignwith SCE’s strategic objectives, policies and procedures,

  • Developing senior managers and project managers within the group by providing timely feedback, coaching and support.

  • Removing project barriers by building partnerships with other division managers and external entities to establish clear lines ofcommunications between the cross-functional teams.

  • Establish clear roles and responsibilities for project teams.

  • Establish a diverse and inclusive environment where team member’s ideas are respected and addressed.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans that support corporate or department objectives

  • Responsible for compliance of applicable industry codes, standards, and practices on all MP&E projects.

  • Administers equipment, materials, construction services, and engineering service contracts associated with portfolio of projects.

  • Provides project updates to project sponsors and division managers.

  • Promotes the Company’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Finance, Business or other related field.

  • 5 years of experience managing, supervising, or leading a team

Desired Qualifications:

  • Typically possesses ten years of Engineering & Design experience related to hydro or fossil fuel generation facilities.

  • Demonstrated experience in hydraulic engineering, control systems engineering, gas turbine engineering, electrical engineering, mechanicalengineering, or civil design engineering.

  • Experience executing and implementing major infrastructure projects.

  • Project management experience and leading cross-functional project teams.

  • Experience preparing general rate case testimony and supporting economic analysis and cost justification.

  • Experience in negotiating and approving contracts.

  • Experience managing a budget of at least $40 million.

  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, CAD, and Primavera (or similar project management software tool).

  • Professional Engineer's License.

  • MBA or Master's Degree in an Engineering field.

  • Project Management certification.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to present to all levels within an organization, including Senior Management(e.g. VP, SVP).

Comments:

  • The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA with some regular travel to SCE's generation sites in California.

  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • Relocation may be available for qualified candidates.
