This position will be the Telecom Proprietary Telecom System Job Package Specialist for Project Oversight and Support in the Grid Services Network & Telecom System Integration Services department within Southern California Edison (SCE)’s Information Technology organization.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Responsible for ensuring the completeness, technical accuracy and installation feasibility of all telecommunication engineering job packages (engineering instructions, drawings, circuit layout records, design and bill of material) for Southern California Edison and Edison Carrier Solutions prior to release for installation and configuration by field technicians throughout the SCE system.
Responsible for reviewing and approving the distribution of highly specialized and technical system installation packages to ensure all systems designs are designed to work in our complex electrical environment, standards are being followed, material is ordered correctly and with appropriate lead time, dependencies are identified and tracked.
Identifies potential project impediments, and mitigates by devising alternate plans and courses of action.
Recommends crew schedules and assignments, reports work progress as well as future projects, and evaluates completed work. Ensures key project schedules are met.
Assists in the implementation of process improvements to continuously refine and improve upon project and operational processes across Grid Services.
Verifies engineers have followed company approved technical design standards for equipment, assess constructability of design, completeness of job package, clarity of engineering instructions and completeness of bill of material. Engages internal and external teams to discuss, address, evaluate, support, or advance operational improvement processes.
Maintains knowledge and skills to understand and log into various specialized pieces of telecommunication equipment.
Proactively engaging engineers to clarify technical instructions, diagrams, drawings or other items that are confusing, unclear and misleading for field professionals to follow.
Documents and communicates common issues found within job packages and providing engineering staff feedback.
Determines roadblocks based on job package requirements such as material availability, redesign, location and due dates and provide recommendations to management regarding package assignments to optimize work load.
Prioritizing work to support high visibility projects including reducing roadblocks that could impair construction schedule.
Recommends crew assignments and schedules based on workload reports and project criticality.
Experiencing interpret telecommunications drawings, Circuit Layout Records (CLR), schematics and blueprints contained within a job package.
Six years of telecom or engineering experience.
Three years of experience reading, engineering, or installing proprietary telecom systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or relevant technical discipline.
Experience scheduling field support work crews.
Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Relocation does not apply to this position.
This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
Will be required to travel up to 25% within SCE service territory.
