Position Overview:

The Sr. General Ledger/Accounting Manager will lead a team of professional accounting staff responsible for general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements. This team handles the accounting for the company’s benefit plans, executive compensation, monthly accruals, and manages the monthly close process.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of 8 professional accountants including selection/hiring, goal setting, performance management, development, and training. Oversees hiring and performance management, balances work across individual contributors, and participates in salary planning and talent development planning

  • Serve as a trusted accounting expert; possesses a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and has the ability to determine and document appropriate accounting conclusions.

  • Interpret and apply GAAP and regulatory decisions in managing recording of transactions, documenting accounting policies, as well as providing accounting guidance to various operating units and assessing impact to the financial statements.

  • Responsible for employee benefit plan accounting consisting of pension and post-retirement benefits other than pension (PBOP), 401(k), comprehensive and long-term disability accounting, including financial statement and Form 5500 preparation and filing

  • Oversee executive compensation accounting, such as executive retirement plans, long-term incentive, deferred compensation, and corporate-owned life insurance accounting

  • Oversee the account reconciliation software tool (Runbook) and confirm that all balance sheet reconciliations are performed timely and accurately, ensuring the integrity of our financials.

  • Review of monthly accrual activities such as long term debt accounting, prepaid expense, and deferred revenue amortization

  • Responsible for the month-end close, including plan to actual and comparative variance analysis

  • Support SCE’s financial reporting disclosure (10-Q/10-K) and MD&A requirements

  • Implement new accounting standards, including researching, documenting, and exercising formal project planning among key stakeholders that affects accounting and reporting

  • Strengthen the team’s skills by continuously encouraging active participation in professional and technical training to achieve productivity and high quality analysis

  • Improve and streamline processes across groups for a responsive, efficient, and well performing organization. Communicates opportunities, risks and associated resolution, recommendations for goals, and shares best practices and critical findings with other leads.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or other related discipline.

  • Minimum of five (3) years of experience managing, supervising, or leading an organization, unit, or teams.

  • Must have at least (5) years of experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or related field.

Desired Qualifications:

  • CPA Certification

  • Experience using SAP Financial Modules (FI and CO)


  • The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA

  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
