About Transmission and Distribution

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

Position overview

The Project Analyst provides support to the Distribution Project Management (DPM). The Project Analyst supports the DPM Project Manager and the Project Team by monitoring and tracking progress and project status from scope review and design, through construction and project close-out. Support is provided for a multitude of different project types, all related to the completion of critical Distribution Infrastructure Replacement work to replace aging infrastructure and improve the reliability of SCE’s electrical system. The Project Analyst also provides analytical support to review and process work order packages, secure material, and ensure the work is authorized to proceed for construction. The Project Analyst also obtains project status, updates and maintains the project tracking database, and works with the appropriate Project Team member to help remove obstacles throughout the project’s lifecycle. The successful candidate is expected to support the project manager in tracking and reviewing in-flight projects with project team by participating in job walks and monthly Tactical meetings and ad-hoc project status meetings. The successful candidate will have a positive outlook and work well in a team environment.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Provide data on status of projects and their requirements, clarify issues and ensure that Region personnel receive the appropriate support for the successful completion of projects

  • Researching, analyzing, interpreting complex data and problem solving

  • Responsible for verifying, analyzing and updating information in tracker, SAP and DM systems as well as Access and Excel

  • Completes the monthly reporting activities, maintaining databases and reporting data for ad hoc Data Requests

  • Create and maintain records, logs, documents, files and databases and other administrative duties as assigned

  • Some travel may be required to attend off-site meetings and job walks with the assigned territory

  • In addition, the successful candidate will participate and influence industry initiatives that may affect the site, maintain a safety conscious work environment, by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices, and perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have at least two years of experience extracting and analyzing data and producing ad-hoc reports in Microsoft Excel

  • Must have at least two years of analytical experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Two years of experience using Microsoft Access

  • Project Management Certification

  • Associate’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

  • Working knowledge of Transmission and Distribution.

  • Demonstrated experience in project management theories and practices

  • Demonstrated experience working in the Engineering and/or Construction industry

  • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining records, logs, documents, files, or databases for use in monitoring, tracking, and trending program/project costs, budget and production variance, resources, schedules, and status for management with attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated experience reviewing, updating, preparing reports, documents or correspondence for internal and external customers to provide project updates and status with attention to detail

  • Demonstrated experience performing risk analysis, mitigating issues and problem solving

  • Demonstrated experience gathering documents and researching data on assigned topics, using databases, files, spreadsheets, or other sources

  • Demonstrated experience performing analysis, data entry, and report preparation

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and assignments concurrently

  • Demonstrated experience interfacing and collaborating with internal and external clients, peers, management

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects/assignments with minimal oversight under tight timelines

  • Must be flexible and willing to work overtime as required

  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access

  • Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices

  • Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers

  • Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation

  • Must demonstrate strong work ethics and interpersonal skills


  • Position will require up to 30% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
