This position is part of Southern California Edison’s (SCE) University and Campus Relations Internship Program. The internship is scheduled for the summer of 2017, with an estimated start date of May/June 2018 and an estimated end date of August/September 2018.
SCE offers these programs with the belief that learning and development are important parts of building future leaders.Our internships help students gain real-world experience by placing them in teams within the operating units where they will work on projects that support the strategic initiatives of the business. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in intern mixers, executive speaker series, site tours, community volunteer events, intern project expo, and cross-company networking.
Distribution Business Line Overview – Local Planning :
Distribution Business Line (DBL) is comprised of the Distribution Construction & Maintenance (DC&M), Distribution Resource Planning & Project Management (DC&M RPPM), and Central Design & Field Accounting (CD&FA) groups. In addition to designing, constructing, and maintaining the electric distribution system, DBL accurately and compliantly capitalizes plant assets into our rate base.
Local Distribution Planning:
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting various positions within the local planning department with related design work, including: project management, customer interactions related to data collection and setting design expectations, drafting in SCE’s computer aided design (CAD) system, field data collection, meter spotting, running basic design calculations, electrical single line diagram review/approvals, and interacting with additional third parties and departments to help meet design deliverables. Additional responsibilities may include tracking, analyzing and reporting out on design information and perform other duties as assigned.
Must currently be pursuing Bachelor's or Master’s degree in electrical, civil, mechanical, industrial, environmental engineering, or mathematics, architecture, building science, or construction engineering management at an accredited institution with a graduation date of December 2018 or later.
Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher as determined by your current academic institution.
Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Must have demonstrated coursework, project, or work/internship experience in computer aided design (CAD) or similar automated design system.
Must possess demonstrated coursework, project, or work/internship experience in customer service.
Demonstrated experience or coursework in the following topics: Project Research, Management, Leadership & Team Building in the Project Environment, Interpersonal Communications, Service Excellence (Customer Service/Client Management), Sales/Marketing, and Managing Business Process Improvement.
